Skin Cancer Treatments

Skin cancers are usually curable if detected early. Your dermatologist will decide on a treatment based on a number of factors, including the type of cancer, location of the cancer, how big the cancer is and whether it has spread to other parts of your body.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT is a treatment option where a photosensitising cream is applied to the site of your skin cancer and the light is shone on that area.

Surgical Excision

Cutting out the tumour can be used for many BCC’s, SCC’s and melanomas.

Curette and Cautery

This procedure is ideal for early non-melanoma skin cancers.

Imiquimod and Anticancer Drugs

Imiquimod is a cream which stimulates the body’s own immune system to attack and destroy the skin cancer.
